In August we did a Clothes Club fundraising event for Birdsong and raised £500 for Heba, one of the women’s groups that they work with. They partner with different groups to provide a safe space for them to learn to sew.
“Thank you clothes club for raising £500 for Heba Women’s Project charity. The money raised goes towards providing a safe space for migrant women to learn sewing skills. £500 pays for everyday items that make the space as comfortable as possible for these busy migrant women who are often full time mothers. It will also go toward more vital things like a living wage for the work they do, and rents in an increasingly gentrified area these women have called home for the past 30 years.”
It was a great evening up on Dalston rooftop again (thank you to the team there) and this time Soap Co, Art Against Knives, TRAID and Manni’s up-cycled garms collaborated with us. Divine Chocolate supplied lots of their incredible chocolate for us, which is the only Fairtrade chocolate company to be 44% owned by the people who make it.
